EV Charging Guide ยท Volt Hub Electrical
How Much Does EV Charger Installation Cost in Perth?
Thinking about charging your EV at home in Perth? One of the first questions is cost. The honest answer is: it depends - but this guide from Volt Hub Electrical explains exactly what affects the price so you know what to expect, and how the Charge Up WA rebate can help.
What affects the cost of EV charger installation
- The charger itself - 7kW single-phase units are the most common for homes; 22kW three-phase units cost more
- Cable run distance - how far the charger is from your switchboard
- Switchboard work - older boards may need an upgrade or a dedicated circuit
- Mounting and trenching - wall-mounted is simplest; longer or underground runs add labour
- Load management - sometimes needed so the charger doesn't overload your supply
7kW vs 22kW chargers
Most Perth homes have single-phase power and use a 7kW charger, which fully charges a typical EV overnight. Homes with three-phase power can use a faster 22kW unit. We'll recommend the right option for your car and your home's supply.
Don't forget the rebate
Eligible WA households may be able to reduce the cost through the State Government's Charge Up rebate. Read our Charge Up WA rebate guide for details.
